Michael O. Smith has been practicing law at the Marcotte Law Firm since 2000. He specializes in the area of Plaintiff Personal Injury (including motor vehicle and pedestrian accidents, premises liability, products liability), Workers Compensation, Criminal Law (including OUI, Drug Charges, Assault and Battery etc), Family Law (including Divorce, Custody and Child Support Matters), and Social Security Law (SSI and SSDI Claims). Attorney Smith is a lifelong resident of Winchester, Massachusetts. He attended the Winchester School System and graduated from Winchester High School in 1988. Attorney Smith was a multi sport athlete in High School and earned a full athletic scholarship to play football at Boston University. While playing for the BU Terriers at historic Nickerson Field, Mr. Smith was coached by Chris Palmer, former head coach for the Cleveland Browns and current quarterback coach for the NY Giants. While at Boston University, Mr. Smith attended the rigorous and respected School of Management Program and graduated with honors, holding a degree in Business Administration. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Smith was employed as a Claims Manager at Murphy & Beane, a general insurance defense firm in Boston. While at Murphy and Beane, Mr. Smith handled the defense of workers compensation claims for many high profile accounts. While employed full time at Murphy and Beane, Mr. Smith Attended Suffolk University Law School earning his Law Degree in 1999. Attorney Smith then practiced law for Murphy and Beane and represented insurers and self insurers in the defense of personal injury claims before he joined the Marcotte Law Firm Attorney Smith value's his life experiences and uses them to his client's benefit when practicing law. Dedication, teamwork and persistence are some of the attributes he developed while playing division 1 athletics. He also value's his experience as a defense trial lawyer representing insurance companies. Attorney Smith uses his experience as a former defense attorney when litigating a case on his client's behalf by understanding the defendant's perspective and then achieving a favorable result for his client. Attorney Smith lives in Winchester Massachusetts with his wife and three children. Outside of practicing law, he is actively involved in volunteering for the Winchester School System.
